What to Expect From Nutrition Counseling with Me

We will explore various approaches to best help you meet your nutrition and weight goals, while fitting into your lifestyle and personality.

We will use counseling approaches that are sustainable and backed by science. This means no ridged diets, cleanses or other starvation methods.




Forgive and Forget

We will talk about ways to forgive yourself and feel ok when you cannot meet the unrealistic weight and nutrition standards. We will discuss how these messages are hurtful and inaccurate.




No Rigid Food Rules

We will use Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating philosophies to learn about a normal and sustainable way to eat eating without guilt and shame. I will teach you how to follow your internal hunger and fullness cues.




Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

We will use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help change your negative beliefs and thoughts about weight, body image and nutrition. Here are a few examples of CBT tools:

Food Hierarchy

Ranking foods from least to most anxiety 0-7 to better understand your feelings about food.

Food Exposures

We will use information from your food hierarchy to plan food exposures that will aid in recovery.

Thought Challenging

This helps with understanding of our deep-rooted beliefs and questions the truth in the belief.




Encouragement

I will encourage you to be kind to yourself while on this journey and to use self-care and self-compassion always.

Schedule an Appointment

When you schedule an appointment, you will be directed to Thera-LINK and you will be able to choose the type of appointment you would like and choose a date and time. You will have the option to choose in office or online session and payment will be collected before the session begins though the information you provided when you scheduled the session. Once I see that you have made an appointment, I will contact you via email with assessment forms and to gather further information before our first session.
